Formula 1 Betting Offers & Sites

Formula 1 is one of the most watched sports in the UK. It might seem a rather easy sport if you are watching from TV, but in reality, it is one of the hardest one on the planet.

Betting on Formula 1 is very popular indeed. Not only punters can wager on the qualifiers rounds but also during the 2-hour long race. As you would expect there are lots of different betting markets available as you can bet on the outright race winner, fastest lap, pole position winner, top 10 finish and lots more.

Formula One is a rich sport that has plenty of revenue and advertising deals. Bookmakers are very keen to get involved in the sport and in recent times they have increased the betting offers available as more cars have a chance to win compared with the past.

F1 History

F1 History

The beginning of Formula 1 can be traced at the end of the 19th century when automobile racing started in France in several cities. The races were taking place on public roads and safety was a concern. It was only in 1922 that the Commission Sporting Internationale was set up and tasked to regulate the sport. In 1946 they declared Formula 1 to be the premier single-seater racing in the world. Initially, Formula 1 was dominated by the Italian cars but after 1950 the Germans started to compete a lot more intensely.

That was the time when Ferrari started to dominate in Formula 1. In 1953 it was organised the first Grand Prix outside Europe that took place in Argentina.

Formula 1 Rules and Format

Formula 1 can be split into two main competitions that take place over the season. The first one is for the drivers (Drivers Championship) while the second one is for manufacturers (Constructors Championship). The season starts in March and finishes in November and there are around 20 race tracks involved. The races are on weekends and they do involve 3 different practice sessions (2 qualifying race, 1 race). The result of the qualifying session on Saturday determines the grid of the race on Sunday.

The race itself it last maximum 2 hours apart when there are accidents and therefore everything slows down. Points are assigned depending on how the drivers and cars end the race.
