Betway will not always run the same promotions but surely they will have something to add value in all major League and Union games. A popular one is their double winnings offer. In this case, you will get double winnings if your team is actually losing at half time but they managed to turn around and win the game.

When this promotion is not available, they will be offering a tryscorer money back or something similar. Anyway, there is always something capable of adding value to your bets. Rugby History

Rugby and Football have similar origins however went in different ways rather early on. The differences were laid out in 1871 with the formation of the Rugby Football Union.

Rugby Union is splitting from Rugby League

Rugby Union

As you might know, there are two different forms of rugby: rugby union and rugby league. The reason why there was a split was financial. Rugby started as an amateur game but once it began to increase in popularity, some clubs started to offer money to some players in order to incentivise them to move to their teams. There was, therefore, a split with the Rugby League that became professional while Rugby Union that remained amateur. For nearly 100 years the two sides had continuing arguments and players of one league was not allowed to play on the other league and vice-versa.

Things started to calm down only after Rugby Union allowed professionalism in 1995.

Rugby Union Rules and How To Play

The main aim of Rugby is to score more points than the opposition. Every team has 15 players and 7 substitutes at their disposal. A try is scored when a player will be able to place the ball down in the opponent’s goal area. A conversion is a kick that is given to the team that has scored a try. The kicker needs to make sure the ball will pass between the two posts and above the bar of the H goalposts. Players can also score drop goals. This is done by dropping the ball out of hands and then kick it between the posts.

A rugby game is lasting for 80 minutes and the clock is paused when the game is paused (ie. the ball is out of play).

Main Differences With Rugby League

Rugby League

Rugby Union and Rugby League are not completely different sports, but there are still some relevant differences in the rules. Rugby League has a total of 13 players and 13 substitutes. If a player is tackled correctly in Rugby League they need to drop the ball behind them and roll with their foot so that another player can pick it up. Teams can only be tackled a number of times and if they get tackled too much they will lose possession. There are also some differences in regards to scoring points.

Since we are talking basically about two different sports, different competitions will be considered significant. Even though Rugby League made the step to professionalism in 1995, it is still a rather complicated affair and remains rather amateurish in its organisation.
